Oulton College launches Free Academic Upgrading
13, 2017 - MONCTON, N.B.) Oulton College is pleased
to announce the launch of free Academic Upgrading set to start April 2017. Meetings with interested students will start
as early as next week. This tuition-free upgrading will provide more people in
New Brunswick with access to Post-Secondary Education Health Science
The upgrading will be developed using the framework of the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Curriculum and will have no tuition attached. It will provide students with the opportunity to obtain the academic requirements needed to access health science programs while providing an overview of different health career options.
“We have found that many individuals find their passion beyond high school and find themselves without the credits required for college admissions. This is most evident in the area of health science programs,” stated Darcie Robichaud, President of Oulton College.
Students who want to be a practical nurse, a paramedic or a pharmacy technician, for example, but did not take the science credits required in high school, will benefit from academic upgrading. Oulton wants to help students pursue their passion and prepare them to be successful in being accepted into such programs.
“This certificate program will be a tool to get them on track to a health care program that they are passionate about,” stated Robichaud on the launch of the free upgrading. Courses will include Biology, Math, English and Introduction to Health Sciences.
This 16-week certificate will be offered part time at Oulton and is intended to prepare students for entry to a health science program.
“It is Oulton’s way of giving back to the community. We are excited about giving more students access to college education so they can pursue their passion! ” says Robichaud.
